Career Day 2019

Dear Parents,

We have some very exciting news to share with you! On Tuesday, March 19th 2019, PS/IS 49 will host our annual Career Day. This year we will incorporate the entire school. The purpose of Career Day is to give students an opportunity to learn about different careers from representatives in our community. The more exposure students have to possible career paths, the more college ready they will be for the 21st century.

We are inviting you, as parents of our school, to participate in our Career Day before we reach out to the community at large. We encourage you and/or friends and family to share your career experiences and expertise with our students.

Here is a tentative schedule for the day to help you decide if you can participate.

8:00 am – 8:30 am                 Breakfast and Orientation        (Library)

8:30 am    9:00 am                 Classroom Presentations

                      9:05 am – 9:40 am                Classroom Presentations

                 10:00 am – 10:45 am               Appreciation Wrap-Up           (Library)

Our goal is to have a speakers per class for all grades. Speakers will have about 30 minutes to present their career and answer student questions to two different classes during the two period time frame. All speakers will receive an outline to help them prepare their presentations before the actual day. Please feel free to use power point presentations, appropriate videos and other means necessary for your presentations.

If you are able to participate, please complete the Career Day Registration Form and return it or email it to Mr. Rampartap at rrampartap@schools.nyc.gov by January 10th, 2019. Forms can be obtained on the school’s website 49online.org. Feel free to duplicate the attached form.

Thank you for your time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Career Day Committee at (718) 326-2111.

Sincerely,
